SKI HOLIDAY IN THE THREE VALLEYS

THE THREE VALLEYS (LES TROIS VALLEES)

The 3 Valleys, consisting of the Saint-Bon, Les Allues and the Belleville valley, is by far the largest ski area in the world interconnected only by lifts and ski runs. What it means is that by choosing this destination you gain access to over 600km of ski runs (321 ski runs available – 51 green, 132 blue, 106 red, 32 black) spread over many fantastic, internationally renowned resorts such as Courchevel, Meribel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, St. Martin de Belleville, La Tania and Orelle (accessible also from Brides Les Bains using the gondola lift) – all of them available on one ski pass!

Each resort is different in style and character – you can taste a bit of luxury and glitz of top rated hotels, chalets and restaurant in Courchevel, experience typically British apres-ski bars atmosphere of Meribel or party with the international crowd in the highest ski resort in Europe while skiing in Val Thorens. The Three Valleys cater for all tastes and preferences.

If you add to it very good snow conditions thanks to the high altitude (85% of this ski area is situated above 1800m and the maximum skiing altitude is 3230m) together with 2100 snow cannons making artificial snow for nearly one third of the ski area, it’s not surprising that the 3 Valleys attract so many skiers and snowboarders each year.

VAL THORENS

Located in Savoie region of the French Alps, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe situated at 2300 m above sea level. Forming a part of the world-famous Three Valleys ski area, it’s the most internationally visited French ski resort (70% of skiers are foreigners).

Open from late November until early May, Val Thorens is also known as “VT” or “Val Tho”. Its high altitude ensures good snow conditions throughout the season. And if skiing is not everything you’re looking for on your ski holidays, and having fun is equally important to you, Val Thorens has also a lot to offer in this matter as it’s considered to be one of the best “party resorts” in the French Alps with excellent “après-ski” bars and nightclubs allowing you to relax and chill out after skiing.

LES MENUIRES

Les Menuires was the first ski resort opened in the Belleville valley which is the largest valley out of all three in the region. The resort itself has excellent access to the whole 3 Valleys as it’s located only a short ski over the mountain from Meribel-Mottaret and Val Thorens. Situated on the altitude of 1850m, Les Menuires offers its visitors great snow conditions and a lot of ski runs suitable for all type of skiers – from beginner to advanced level (fans of off-piste skiing will love La Masse slopes). If you add to it quite reasonably priced, “ski-to-door” accommodation with all necessary facilities, it makes up for a great place to enjoy your French alpine ski adventure.
